Version 2026-09-16
Privacy Policy
This Policy explains how BigEffort.app handles information needed to provide and protect the service.
1. Information BigEffort handles
This includes account and contact information such as first name and email; username and profile information; password hashes and other account-security information; settings; workouts; canonical and custom exercises; sets, repetitions, weights and other results; workout history; private Notes; body measurements and progress history; and Feature Requests & Feedback.
Registration records the Terms and Privacy versions accepted, the acceptance time and, for registrations under this version, the time the user confirmed they were at least 15. BigEffort does not collect a date of birth or identity document for this purpose.
2. Technical and security information
BigEffort uses essential session cookies and identifiers to keep you signed in and protect your account. Account-recovery records include a hashed, expiring reset-token record; transactional recovery email is sent only when requested. Operational logs and temporary security controls may record limited request, error, source-reference and abuse-prevention information needed to run and defend the service. BigEffort does not currently add a separate analytics system for WAU or MAU.
3. Why information is used
Information is used to create and authenticate accounts, operate workout and progress features, preserve history, apply preferences, provide user-requested sharing, review private feedback, improve reliability, prevent abuse and meet legal obligations where applicable.
4. Sharing you control
Workouts and progress are not public by default, and BigEffort does not currently provide Public Profiles or a public username directory. Share cards are created only when you ask for them. Private Notes are excluded. Workout lifting weights follow your workout-share preference. Body-weight values default to hidden on Weight Progress shares; percentage-change-only sharing remains available.
5. Feature Requests & Feedback
Submissions are private between you and authorised BigEffort administrators. They are not public roadmap posts and have no public voting or comments. Administrators may manage internal status and private review notes that are not shown to users.
6. Disclosure, service providers and international use
BigEffort uses service providers for hosting, email delivery, security and other infrastructure needed to operate the service. Some providers may process information outside Australia. We take reasonable steps when selecting and using providers and will update this Policy if our arrangements materially change. BigEffort does not sell personal information.
7. Retention, backups and security
Account and training information is currently retained while the account and service operate, unless deletion is lawfully requested or retention is needed for security, dispute or legal purposes. Security throttle state and password-reset tokens expire automatically. Operational logs and backups may retain information for their configured operational periods, so deletion from the live service may not remove every protected backup copy immediately; retained backup data is not intended for ordinary use and expires through the backup lifecycle.
BigEffort uses reasonable safeguards including password hashing, authenticated owner-scoped access, CSRF protection, secure session controls, restricted server-side session storage, limited security logging and encrypted HTTPS hosting when deployed. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
8. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or obtain information. BigEffort provides account settings for supported corrections but does not currently provide self-service account deletion or a complete data export. Access, correction and deletion enquiries can be made through the privacy contact below and will be assessed, identity-checked and handled as reasonably required by applicable obligations. Changing timezone changes how timestamps are displayed and does not rewrite historical data.
9. Age
BigEffort V1 is for people aged 15 and older. People under 15 may not register, and no parental-consent registration process is provided. If BigEffort learns that an under-15 account was created, it may restrict the account and take reasonable steps to address the information.
10. Changes and contact
Material changes will use a new Privacy version and may require a new acknowledgement. Privacy enquiries may be sent to privacy@bigeffort.app.
